ISLAMABAD: Mishal Malik, wife of jailed Kashmiri freedom movement leader Yasin Malik, has called upon the people of Pakistan to launch an aggressive peaceful movement to make the global community aware of the atrocities being committed against Kashmiris inside India-held Kashmir.

Addressing a large crowd at the Centaurus Mall on Saturday who gathered to watch a ‘flash mob’ by university students on the Kashmir movement, Ms Malik criticised the silence of world leaders, especially the UN Security Council in condemning the Indian occupation of Kashmir and the disproportionate use of force and brutalities committed against mass resistance.

She said that since Aug 5, after India abolished the semi-autonomous status of Jammu and Kashmir, enforcing a curfew and lockdown in the valley, the population has been faced with a severe humanitarian crisis and more people have died from the lack of food and medicines than in street clashes between unarmed protesters and Indian security forces.

She said even international organisations like the International Committee of the Red Cross were not allowed to help the suffering Kashmiris.
