PSF to organise ‘international’ tournament for local players

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Squash Federation is set to organise the Pakistan International Squash Tournament from Aug 26 to 30 here at Mushaf Squash Complex.

The tournament carries a prize money of $10,000 for the men’s event and $5,000 for the women’s version. The event is recognised by the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and therefore help Pakistani players to improve their international ranking.

According to the PSF, Tayyab Aslam is seeded on top for the tournament followed by Farhan Mehboob while Asim Khan is seeded third.

In the women’s event, Madina Zafar is the top seed and Moqaddas Ashraf is the second seed player.

An official said that the PSF has been granted special permission by the PSA to allow only Pakistani players in this championship so that they could improve their ranking.

He said that in the next few months, a similar tournament will be held in Karachi.
