TAXILA: A man died and his son fell unconscious in a well in Jallia area of Hazro police station on Monday.

Hospital and police sources, quoting eyewitnesses, said Ameer Afsar climbed down the well located in his house to fix the water pump.

However, he fainted after inhaling poisonous gas accumulated in the well.

Sources said when he did not return, his son Sumair Ali, went down the well but he also fainted. They were retrieved by their guest with the help of other fellow villagers and were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where Ameer Afsar was pronounced dead while his son’s condition was stated to be out of danger.
