QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet will approve the provincial budget for 2019-20 on Monday.

Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani will preside over the cabinet meeting.

The budget session of the provincial assembly is likely to be held on June 19.

Finance Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, who will present the first budget of the present government in the assembly, has said that the people of Balochistan would witness major positive changes in the health sector through government’s reforms.

Health, education, mines and minerals, fisheries, irrigation and law and order would be given priority in the budget. Maximum funds will be allocated for those sectors which could generate maximum revenue to enhance provincial revenue. Official sources said that allocations would be made for new and ongoing development projects.

The sources said that around 450 development schemes, which were included in the Public Sector Development Programme 10 years ago, would be completed by June 30

“No development scheme would be part of the PSDP which was not approved along with PC-1 by the cabinet and planning and development (P&D) department,” a senior official of P&D department told Dawn.

The health sector will get Rs24.5 billion in the budget for the next year.
