KARACHI: Burnt body pieces of a man and a minor girl were found in the New Karachi Industrial Area and Sohrab Goth, respectively, officials said on Saturday.
“The burnt pieces of the body of a man were found near Allahwali Chowrangi in New Karachi on Friday night,” said an officer of the New Karachi Industrial Area police station.
He said that a brother-in-law identified the victim as Haq Nawaz who had been missing in the limits of Bilal Colony since June 2. His missing report was registered at the Bilal Colony police station.
The body pieces were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to fulfil legal formalities.
Additional police surgeon Dr Saleem Shaikh told Dawn that only the abdomen and chest were found while the other parts of the body were missing.
The body was completely decomposed and burnt beyond recognition. Therefore, DNA samples were taken and sent to the laboratory concerned for identification.
New Karachi SP Abdul Sattar Bhutto also corroborated the views of the doctors and added that they would be waiting for the lab reports for the identification of the dead.
The officer, quoting the sons of the victim, said that he used to meet a woman in the area and suspected that the woman’s husband or sons might have killed their father.
Separately, the burnt body of a girl aged around seven to eight years was found in Sohrab Goth on Friday night.
A police officer said that the burnt body pieces of the girl were found in a garbage dump in Laasi Goth. They were shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities. Doctors have taken her DNA samples for identification.
