On April 15, he left the guest house to purchase some medicine but did not return.

The matter was reported to Kohsar police on April 17 and the next day the police registered a kidnapping case.

Sub-Inspector Abdul Razzaq told Dawn that during investigation it transpired that the victim had left the rest house without taking his wallet, mobile phone and passport.

The Kohsar police alerted all other police stations in the capital and other districts about his disappearance and also pasted posters in different areas about the missing man.

On Friday, a man called on the telephone number given on the poster and informed the missing man’s uncle that the body of a Chinese man was lying in a nullah at Iqbal Town.
