PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party has expressed its concern over the increasing number of ghost schools and students in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and described it as an open contradiction of government’s education reforms policy and demanded proper probe into the matter to award punishment to the relevant officials.

The party leader and former senior minister Sikandar Hayat Sherpao in a statement here on Thursday referred to a report about the number of ghost schools and students in KP and said that Paksitan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had done nothing practical for bringing change rather its performance was limited to claims on social media.

“A recent report has revealed that ghost schools existed in 19 of the KP districts where students are not available and just registers have been maintained,” he said and added that the ground realities were totally against what the PTI leaders were claiming daily.

The QWP leader said that the presence of ghosts schools proved massive loot and plunder of the national wealth on part of the government and urged the National Accountability Bureau to take notice of the ‘irregularities’ in funds of different provincial government departments in order to award punishment to the people involved in the mess.

Sikandar Sherpao said that the government affairs could not be run through ad hocism. He said that the rulers had failed to adopt concrete policies for welfare of the people.
