LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Friday directed the National Accountability of Bureau (NAB) to produce two sons of the owner of the Eden Private Limited (Eden Housing Society) involved in DHA-City scam next month in Islamabad.

Earlier, the NAB produced one of the sons, Murad Arshad, before a two-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar.

NAB-Lahore Director General Shahzad Saleem told the bench that Mr Arshad had surrendered before the law.

Mr Arshad said there was another developer company with the name of “Eden” which was owned by his cousins. He claimed that ‘the Eden’ owned by his family did not commit any fraud with anyone and had plots more than the files sold to the people. He said that it was the DHA which had been creating hurdles. However, DG Saleem rejected the claims of Mr Arshad, telling the court the bureau had been trying to settle the issue amicably.

At this, Chief Justice Nisar observed that he knew well how NAB settled the issues.

“You should facilitate the people,” the CJP advised the DG.

The CJP pointed out he had received over 20 applications on every other day by the affectees of the scam and most of them were widows. He directed NAB to produce both the sons of the owner of the company, Murad and Hammad (currently on judicial remand), on the next hearing as the court wanted to end the pain of the people affected by the land scam.

The chief justice also sought personal appearance of administrator of the DHA-Lahore on next hearing in Islamabad on Dec 5.
