PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party chairman Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has condemned the killing of Superintendent of Police Tahir Dawar and blasted the state institutions for failing to save a senior officer’s life.

Mr Sherpao expressed these views while talking to mediapersons after offering condolences on the murder of the senior police official at his residence here on Friday.

The seasoned politician said the kidnapping and subsequent killing of SP Tahir Dawar was indeed failure of the state and its institutions.

Mr Sherpao said it was the failure of the federal, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments that led to the killing of the senior police officer, who was kidnapped from Islamabad and found dead in Afghanistan.

He said it should be investigated as to how the senior police officer was kidnapped from the federal capital and shifted to Afghanistan.

Demanding arrest of the killers, he said the perpetrators behind the gory act should be arrested and put in the dock to provide justice to the bereaved family.

Expressing concern over the prevailing security situation in the country, the QWP leader said that kidnapping of a senior government official from under the nose of the government spoke volumes about its performance.
