RAWALPINDI: Two children were killed after being hit by a train near Airport Housing Society on Sunday.

According to the police, Mohammad Ali, 8, his parents and cousin Neelam Bibi, 10, were going to a shrine.

Mohammad Ali’s parents had just crossed the track when the train appeared, and before the children could cross, they were run over by the train. The children were killed on the spot.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital by Rescue 1122 for postmortem.

“It was a tragic accident. It is hard to understand how it happened and how these two children lost their lives,” Tehzeeb Shah, who is leading the investigation, told Dawn.

Police said the victims did not go to school as their parents, who were labourers, could not afford it.
