THIS is apropos the letter (Oct 17). The writer mentioned that he received Canadian dollars through banking channel remittances in Pakistani rupees credited to his account in a local bank.
He further mentions that since then he has been trying to get an encashment certificate from the concerned branch. He was informed by the branch manager that since the remittances came from Canada through another bank they have sent numerous emails to the correspondent bank but are not receiving a reply.
I have 40 years of banking service that included the handling of home remittances of a leading Pakistani bank. I can say on authority that the above certificate is the responsibility of his bank branch.
If the branch manager is not issuing an encashment certificate, something is amiss.
