HARIPUR: A man was shot dead in a suspected honour killing case here on Tuesday, while another died in a road accident.

The police said Naveed, 24, was killed allegedly by the family members of his wife in the name of honour in Serae Nehmat Khan village.

Fareed of Banda Munir Khan village complained to the police that his younger brother, Naveed, had married a girl of the village in court around 18 months ago due to her family’s opposition.

He said his sister-in-law’s family didn’t accept the marriage and disowned her.

The complainant said Naveed’s bullet-riddled body was found on the roadside near his village on Monday evening.

He said his brother had left home in the morning for work in Haripur city.

The complainant named his sister-in-law’s brother Qasim, cousin Lehrasib and uncle Jamshed for the murder.

The police registered the case and arrested Jamshed.

However, the other suspects were at large.

Also, a man died and three suffered injuries when a speeding car rammed into a passenger van parked by the Khanpur Road near Mang village here.

They said a commuter fell off the van after the accident and died instantly of head injury.
