KARACHI: The film Parwaaz Hai Junoon, whose premiere was abruptly cancelled on Sunday because it hadn’t been cleared by the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) Islamabad, was given the green light on Monday afternoon after a full board meeting of the censor authorities in Islamabad. The film will release on Eidul Azha.

Talking to Dawn, Badar Ikram, head of Hum Films which has produced the film, said, “The film has been allowed to release uncut. The observations [tahafuzzaat] made by the initial members of the board were looked into by the full board, after which they cleared the film for screening.”

When asked about those initial observations, interestingly, Mr Ikram said they had not been “communicated” to them.

Chairman of the censor board Danyal Gillani also tweeted on Monday: “Urdu feature film Parwaaz Hai Junoon has been cleared by Central Board of Film Censors after being reviewed by a full board.”

Parwaaz Hai Junoon is one of the three Pakistani films that will be shown on Eidul Azha, the other two being Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and Load Wedding, directed by Nadeem Baig and Nabeel Qureshi, respectively. While the latter two movies are romantic comedies, the former is a tribute to the Pakistan Air Force.
