LAHORE: In a major development, the National Transmission and Despatch Company’s Managing Director Zafar Abbas resigned from the office on Wednesday.

The Power Division, after accepting resignation of Mr Abbas, entrusted Additional Secretary Dr Aamer Ahmad Khan with the additional charge of NTDC.

Official sources in the energy ministry said that Mr Abbas resigned citing severe job stress due to continuous work and some other issues.

He further requested the Establishment Division to post him in any ministry other than the Ministry of Energy (Power Division).

Mr Abbas, a grade-20 officer of 25th Common (Office Management Group), was appointed as Joint Secretary (Transmission) in Power Division about four years ago.

He took over the additional charge of managing director NTDC in July 2017 after the company’s board of directors (BoD) removed Dr Fiaz A. Chaudhry citing lack of professionalism allegedly on his part in executing various projects concerning the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
