LAHORE: The Flood Forecasting Division of the Meteorological Department on Sunday forecast one or two very heavy rainfalls over Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions from Monday (today) to Wednesday.

In its forecast, it said scattered wind thunderstorm/rain with moderate to heavy falls at isolated places was expected over the upper catchments of all major rivers along with Sargodha, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hazara, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions in the next three days.

It said rain would be caused by moist current from the Bay of Bengal penetrating upper parts of the country up to 5000 feet.

A monsoon low over northwest Bay of Bengal had become well marked and lay over Orissa. It could move westwards during the next 24-hours and contribute to the expected monsoon activity in Pakistan.

Scattered wind thunderstorm/rain with isolated moderate to heavy falls was expected over the upper catchments of the rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej in the next 24 hours.
