According to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended June 1, 2018, deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs12,444.083 billion after a 1.51 per cent increase over the preceding week’s figure of Rs12,258.375bn. Compared with last year’s corresponding figure of Rs11,320.567bn, the current week’s figure was higher by 9.92pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs12,377.819bn against preceding week’s deposits of Rs12,187.482bn, showing a rise of 1.56pc. Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs66.265bn, lower by 6.53pc against previous week’s figure of Rs70.893bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,566.375bn, lower by 0.08pc over preceding week’s figure of Rs16,581.186bn. Current week’s figure is higher by3.83pc compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs15,954.965bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,315.662bn, lower by 0.09pc over previous week’s figure of Rs16,331.078bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs250.713bn were higher 0.24pc over the previous week’s Rs.250.108bn.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 9.86pc to Rs1,836.208bn against previous week’s Rs2,037.169bn. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs2,409.577bn, current week’s figure is lower by 23.80pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs1,742.128bn were lower by 10.46pc against previous week’s Rs1,945.678bn. Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs94.081bn against the previous week’s figure of Rs91.491bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs6,731.842bn against preceding week’s figure of Rs6,732.834bn, lower by 0.01pc. Compared to last year’s corresponding figure of Rs7,876.238bn, current week’s figure is lower by 14.53pc.
