LAHORE: Following the Supreme Court directions, Punjab government has asked all the departments where officers working for companies are drawing higher salaries, to explain why the “unlawful” payments made to them should not be returned to the treasury.

The next hearing of the case is on April 28 and the court had issued the orders on April 14.

The government has asked all such departments (having companies) to comply with the Supreme Court directions while quoting its order which says: “All those companies in which the bureaucrats have been appointed CEO’s or on any other post and are receiving emoluments in excess of what they were receiving on their posts with the government, are notified to appear in person or through counsel to explain why the amount received in excess of amounts lawfully due to them in terms of their employment with the government should not be returned to the government treasury.”

The departments that have been given the direction include Communication &Works, Higher Education, Housing, Industries, Commerce and Investment, Irrigation, Labour and Human Resource, Local Government, Livestock and Dairy Development, Mines and Minerals, Planning & Development, Special Education, Transport, Finance, Women Development and Population Welfare.
