KARACHI: Babar Hussain excelled with a superlative century as Rangers CC moved into the semi-finals of the KCCA Zone-VII ‘A’ Division Cricket League Tournament with a four-wicket win over Pak Surti CC here the other day.

Batting first at the Annu Bhai Park, Pak Surti reached a competitive total of 267-7 in the allotted 40 overs. Zakir Afridi hit up 74 with the aid of nine boundaries and two sixes, while Mohammad Awais struck 54 and Shahmir Khan an unbeaten with three huge sixes and two fours.

Sadiq Khan bowled exceedingly well to capture three wickets for 35 runs and Imran Ali picked up two for 54.

Rangers CC knocked off the required runs in 39.1 overs by posting 271-6. The highlight being the batting of Babar who banged 16 boundaries and a brace of sixes in his belligerent knock of 121.

Babar dominated the second-wicket partnership of 169 with Jawad Ali, who contributed a fine 54 that included five fours and one six.

Rehan Sajid also made an invaluable 46.

Amjad Khan was pick of Pak Surti CC’s bowlers with figures of 2-45.
