Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Sunday took suo motu notice of media reports regarding the killing of 20 people in Balochistan whose bullet-riddled bodies were found in areas of Turbat and Buleda over the last five days.

A press release issued by the Supreme Court noted that the men who lost their lives were brought to the province by human traffickers with the intention of making them cross the Pak-Iran border illegally.

Justice Nisar has called for a detailed report on the matter from Balochistan's inspector general of police and the director of Federal Investigation Bureau within three days.

The chief justice has asked both departments to inform the court about "the steps being taken to curb such incidents in future."

Fifteen bullet-riddled bodies were discovered by the Levies force in Balochistan's Kech district on November 15, while five more turned up near the same area on November 18.

The victims belonged to Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and other parts of Punjab, and had been trying to enter Iran illegally and then proceed to Turkey to enter Greece for the sake of employment, a senior administration officer had told Dawn earlier.
