THIS is in response to news report “SCBA asks ASF to stop ‘illegal’ construction, follow rules” (Sept 10). It is about a dispute between the Airports Security Force (ASF) housing scheme and Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) on the legitimacy of ASF Arabian Vista in North Karachi.

If the legal requirements of the said project were not complied with, the SBCA should have taken steps earlier to stop advertising for the project and the booking of apartments.

Raising legal objections after booking has put at risk the money paid by middle class people of Karachi who are in search of a better but affordable residence.

If KDA, SBCA, etc., cannot provide housing to the people, they should at least not create obstacles for the people who want a decent living.
