RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government will audit procurement made during last five years for anti-dengue campaign in five big districts of the province.

After Eidul Azha the auditors will examine purchase of medicines for the anti-dengue spray, petroleum spending, recruitment of staff and other expenditures the campaign incurred.

A senior official of health department told Dawn that the provincial government had sought the expenditures details from the district health authority.

He said the five districts included Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala and Faisalabad.

He said the health department’s annual budget had increased manifolds in last five years due to anti-dengue campaigns.

He said petrol and diesel was necessary component for the fogging and spraying the chemicals to kill the dengue mosquitoes. He said one litre of Permethrin and Delta-Premethrin mixed with 25 litres of petrol to spray.

He said 200 litre of diesel was required for the fogging in each union council. In Rawalpindi, there are 46 union councils in the city areas and 36 union councils in the adjoining areas.

He said during the last five years, the health department conducted fogging in the union councils for last five years especially in the dengue season from August to December.

He said that in most areas, the health department had conducted fogging in the spring season also.
