NASA telescope finds 10 more planets that could have life

NASA says its planet-hunting telescope has found 10 new planets outside our solar system that are likely the right size and temperature to potentially have life on them.
As the Kepler telescope finished its main mission, NASA announced Monday that it has seen a total of 49 planets in the Goldilocks zone for possible life. And it only looked in a tiny part of the galaxy.
Kepler scientist Mario Perez says that means that “we are probably not alone” because four years of data show how common Earth-like planets can be. Outside scientists agreed that this is a boost in the hope for life elsewhere.
NASA says several of the 10 new potentially habitable planets circle stars similar in size to our sun. NASA also announced 219 new planets.

That's exactly what NASA has been saying since last 50 years or so but all in vain. So far, nobody including NASA has found any planet containing any type of human, zoological, biological or botanical life. Let's wait and see what happens next?

I have no doubt on Nasa capacity to explore planet in habitable zones. The main issue and scientific drawback is to approach them to study its inner core and its geographical and specially biological calculation.Unfortunately mankind has to develop a device to travel faster than light speed to head and approach to these objects . I am hopeful that in future there will be an invention of such a device which can take human to these farthest bodies.

We also should work together to keep our earth habitable for humans. We should not destroy this earth and make it inhabitable with our fights for religious or political domination.

All planets with their generators that produce heat and energy, so they have to be inahabited in time. When, no one knows but nature is meticulous and does not create things that are not required. Equillibrium and resource utilization, just wait.

Why NASA is trying to find life on other planets? It will be like discovery of USA and murder of red indians. We should find lives under measureable condisions on our own earth. People who are trying their best to remain LIVE, we should help them. There is no need to find other peoples and tease them.

There is a world of difference between having the right conditions and having life. Even after you have microbial life, there are enormous odds against developing multicellular life and astronomical odds against developing intelligent life.
Just to keep things in perspective, Earth formed about 4.5 billion years ago (bya) and it took 1 billion years for life to take a foothold (at 3.6 bya). Even then it remained microbial for 2 billion years (until 1.6 bya), and remained unicellular for another 1 billion years before the Cambrian explosion (at 600 mya).
We may find lots of planets with microbial life at most, but few people outside exobiology will get excited about that.

@Dr. Salaria, Aamir Ahmad if you look at the technology advancement curve the odds of finding life are much higher now than they ever were. People doubted moon landing as well but it has been done. For the first time in human history a spaceship has gone past our solar system and we have more powerful telescopes than ever before. Our ability to process data at blazing speed is unprecedented. Yet the universe is a humongous space so it take time. Kudos to NASA for staying at it despite doubts from indivuals that don't understand the audacity of NASA and its scientists' goals. You should read more and doubt less.

Oops ! NASA must stop hoaxing people, it is all they can do to show to the world their research and HUBBLE are the best. It's a bit cheesy to believe everything NASA makes public. None of you even know that Man has ever reached to the Moon's surface, it was all hoax then how could we believe their so called new discoveries of planets which are millions of light years far away from the Earth can have life on them? Huh!!

People confuse the term 'habitable planet', habitable planet are not really habitable planets rather in terms of size,mass,composition,gravity, temperature and relative position to stars they are far more habitable than other planet. This does not mean that life can exist on it.

Think how much money and time they have spent on research work and scholarships for that . And they publish it for the sake of others to further it and to add some more if they are able to do that.

Even you do not know the Van Allen Belt radiation, you do not know Physics and Meta Physics and you believe in every statement passed by the World, dude if it was silly then why don't NASA try reaching to Moon again, can't they afford it or they aren't able to go ? Just google the research and improve the knowledge about the subject concerned, the hoax and the war between Russia and USA in the astronomical aspect, you might then come to conclusion if you believe it was a hoax.
