Leader of Fata parliamentarians in the National Assembly, Shah Jee Gul Afridi, announced on Saturday to hold a sit-in in Islamabad's red zone due to the delay in Fata reforms after the holy month of Ramazan.

Talking to DawnNews at the sidelines of a seminar in Islamabad, he said that the government has failed to keep its word and meet the deadline of May 20 in connection with Fata reforms, so the people of Fata will be paralyse Islamabad by holding a massive sit-in.

"All institutions which work for the country but not for Fata would be paralysed. Roads leading to the Prime Minister's Secretariat will also be blocked," he said.

The sit-in will be held in the capital's red-zone and will be called 'Tribal Tahrir Square', further said the parliamentarian.

"People from across Fata will be approached during the month of Ramazan to participate in the sit-in. We will announce the date for the sit-in during Ramazan."

Afridi added that the tribal people would be holding the sit-in till acceptance of all of their demands.

"Tribal people can hold the proposed sit-in for even a decade as they are already used to living in difficult conditions," he added.

Afridi elaborated that their basic demand was merger of Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He said that the Fata Reforms Bill, which was tabled in the NA but is still in pending, should be passed and seats of Fata should be reserved in the provincial assembly of KP.
