LANDI KOTAL: A military vehicle was partially damaged when it was hit by an improvised explosive device in Bara here on Friday.

Official sources said an army patrolling vehicle was targeted with an IED planted along the roadside in Mandi Kas area.

They said the blast caused partial damage to the vehicle but luckily no one was hurt.

Security forces immediately rushed to the spot, removed the affected vehicle from the scene and imposed curfew on the main Bara road leading to Sipah areas. The Bara Bazaar was also closed while security forces rounded a number of local tribesmen during a search operation conducted in Mandi Kas and adjoining localities soon after the blast, which officials believed, was carried out through remote control.

Some of the arrested tribesmen were later released after preliminary investigations while the rest were kept for further questioning. Nobody claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, security forces in collaboration with Anti-Narcotics Force, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday seized huge quantity of narcotics during a raid on a house in Besai locality of Bara.

Officials said during the raid, 10,834 kilogramme of charas, 235.5kg of opium and 230kg of heroin along with hundreds of bottles of imported liquor and other contraband items were seized.
