Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq plans on meeting Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shehryar Khan within the next couple of days to discuss his future in international cricket.

Speaking to media following Islamabad United’s defeat at the hands of Karachi Kings in the Wednesday night fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Misbah noted that although he is ready for the West Indies series through March and May, captaincy is something which will be decided by the Board.

“I will meet the PCB chairman in the next two days to discuss my plan,” Misbah said.

“I can only confirm my availability for the upcoming series; however, as far as my career as a captain goes, the board and the chairman will have the last say on that,” he maintained.

Misbah-ul-Haq’s future after the PSL concludes has been a subject of much speculation in the past few months.

It was rumoured earlier that he would retire following Pakistan’s poor performance against Australia in January.

Loss against Karachi Kings

While discussing Islamabad United’s loss and knockout from the PSL, Misbah acknowledged that the target of 127 runs was achievable, attributing his team's defeat to ‘poor batting’.

“There is no denying that Karachi King bowlers delivered a stellar performance; however, batting on our end wasn’t good either,” he said.

Moreover, Misbah admitted that Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif’s sudden suspension from the PSL early on had a negative impact on the team.

"Both players had performed really well last season and were in good form this year,” he said. “Their exit affected the team’s plans”.
