The Frontier Constabulary and the Fata political administration razed the house of the suspected facilitator of the Lahore blast and arrested his father and two brothers from Bajaur on Monday.
The measures were taken in accordance with the Frontier Crimes Regulations' (FCR) territorial responsibility clause, which states that for any mishap, the administration can take the community or family members of the perpetrator to task and punish them under a collective responsibility clause.
SSP Operations Zahid Gondal of Punjab Police and DIG Traffic Lahore Capt (retd) Ahmad Mobin were among the 13 people killed in the attack, which also left at least 85 injured.
The Jamat-ul-Ahrar had claimed responsibility for the attack.
The suspect was arrested after video evidence placed him in the area of the blast, walking along with the suspected suicide bomber that blew himself on Mall Road near the Punjab Assembly amid a protest.
In his confessional statement, shared by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in a media briefing on Feb 17, the suspect had said he hailed from a remote village in the Bajaur Agency.
“I was associated with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and they trained me,” the suspect said, adding that he had visited Afghanistan around 15 to 20 times.

This is barbaric. If the terrorist's father are involved then charge them and jail them but just razing their house and arresting them because their son/brother was a terrorist is bizarre.

I think this sort of collective responsibility law must be extended to all country to make family accountable to deter facilitating and harboring the terrorist. As it is the family which knows at the first hand where there loved one has gone and how much threat he is for the society. A single house erases in urban centers like Lahore or Karachi is enough to make sure that such people will never be able to find any place in the society

@Nomi Goraya Pal in a country where left hand does know what the right hand is doing , where poverty prevails, where family hardly see each others ..collective punishment is like two crimes in one, one by the perpetrator and other by the government...

@PakCanuck The people of Tribal areas of Pakistan (FATA) are facing these laws for more than 100 years. There is no concept of human rights in these areas. Even laws are made in such a way that major human rights recognized by international community as well as by the constitution of Pakistan are not given to the people of these areas.

@khanm - Difficult decisions and measures are taken in difficult times. We cannot have daily bombings every day.
So, for now at least such actions and military courts are a necessity!

Pakistan is facing very difficult time. The people desperately want to have peace. However, " terrorism" is a complicated issue. It is really tragic what had happened recently in the terrorist attack in Lahore in which 2 high ranking officers of law enforcement were killed. A facilitator has been arrested and he should be punished. No matter how heinous the offense of the facilitator is it does not justify the razing the house of his father. His father and brother should only be punished if they have an established link to the terrorist activities. Knee jerk reactions are not a good substitute for a sound, deliberate and realistic policy.

@khanm One must take responsibility of all those whom he call family it is not something abnormal many a time families openly disown their rouge counterparts so why not in this case. Wife of this person says she knows all so what is your comment about this do not you think some of blood of those parishes at chairing cross is also on her hands. We need to act hard to deter such things it is not normal situation

@Muhammad Imran because no roads, bridges, no schools and no hospital. People's movements are restricted. People are in circular of misery and cannot get out of it because warlord and tribe elders won't let that happened. It is not there best interest.

Good to take action. But keep in mind in most cases family members are not aware what their dependents are doing out of home. So they should be treated with dignity unless their is sufficient evidence to proof their guilt/involvement.

@Nomi Goraya If you logic is applied then for every crime all family members should be punished. Now think how many crimes happen every year and then multiple that by at-least 5 because all family members also should get punished.
