LAHORE: Top seed Mahin Aftab started her campaign in style outclassing Zohia in the quarter-final of the Junior U-18 Girls Alam A-Khayal Junior National Tennis Championships at Bagh-i-Jinnah here on Thursday.

Mahin of Islamabad took just 25 minutes to outplay Zohia from Lahore 6-0, 6-0 in a completely one-sided affair.

In another quarter-final, Shimza Tahir fought hard to beat Esha Jawad 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

In U-18 boys’ singles, Yousuf Khan defeated Saqib Umar 6-3, 6-1 in the quarter-final.

Haris Irfan-ul-Haq and Ahmed Asjad struggled to beat the Aqib Umar-Hafiz Arbab Ali duo 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 in the boys’ doubles semi-final.

In the U-16 quarter-finals, Mohammad Shoaib beat Syed Hasim Ali 6-1, 6-2; Huzaifa Abdul Rehman earned victory against Aaqib Umer 6-1, 6-0; Hamaza bin Rehan toppled Mustafa 6-2, 7-6 and Nalain Abbass ousted Mohammad Said 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Abdul Hanan Khan beat Ahmed Nail 8-1; Bilal Asim overcame Ali Talha 8-0; Kashan Umer overpowered Hamaza 8-4 and Hamaza Jawad defeated Mohammad Umar 8-4 in the U-12 quarter-finals.
