Terrible and shameful

Our society is hostage in the hands of such ill taught extremists.

To me it seems alarming when university students go aganist freedom of speech! The activists as well as the guy in news have every right to raise their voices! The sad thing is that govt is doing nothing concrete to find those activists!

Shame on the students who tortured......they are so cheap. I recall from my student days, Jamiat Islami were the cheapest of the lot.

Arrest the goons and give them exemplary punishment!

@Dr Farooq Khan: Your line of argument is really dangerous...people get killed also here and there every day...it is a usual routine in the country... So we shouldn't care about it and do not catch the culprits who represent a dangerous mindset over beating someone who hasn't even harmed them? Have you ever been beaten so much by a mob that you were admitted in a hospital? After getting that beating, the trauma and ramifications on one's personality may scar one's behavior for the rest of life!

Now, everyone should remember ex CJ Choudhri for so many missing persons recovery. He had courage to order highest level of Intelligence officials to the court. Thank you sir .

This may seem insensitive but there has to be some sort of backstory to this. I might be wrong but it's not often someone get prolifically assaulted for something so petty. Nonetheless, backstory or not, hope he gets well soon.

@isayedk I can completely believe it without a back story because I know how it works in PU.... was a student there briefly in the 90s. You said so much as an alphabet against what IJT thought and you got assaulted in your hostel. Boys learnt to stay quiet or leave the uni. Nothing has changed. Will there ever be hope for those who dare think differently?

I am actually happy that finally issues in punjab are coming to light. Otherwise so far it appeared only khaber pakhtunkha and karachi had the crime! And apparently removing MQM was the solution of all the crime in Pakistan

It is very unfortunate situation. University Administration should take strict action against such student for making such attempt. Educational Institutes are not supposed to indulge in such activities and it should be made clear at everyone and strict compliance must be ensured. It seems involved student are trying to show solidarity with hidden forces involved in abduction of missing social activists. Secondly involvement of student in terrorist activities like heinous killing of Sabben Mehmood & "Ismaili Community" at Safora Goth in Karachi are clear evidence of student being attached to prestigious academies. But educational institutions and government showed no vigilance to discourage such activities which can potentially create difficulties, threat if not addressed appropriately.

JI is terror force in all colleges and universities.

The person that harass students in our hostels exist due to a failure of our educational system.

Being educated means having an open mind, accepting those with different opinions, discussion is healthy, freedom of speech, etc. It is very unfortunate that in our universities we have some students who are not learning or being educated but are there to obtain a degree. But will come out as educated illiterates.

Intolerance?

Very shameful, where is this country heading, total madness.

I am quite sure people who tortured the students would have had no criminal record. Most probably all of them would have been very honest people. Then why did they torture an innocent student? Well, the answer can be found from Steven Weinberg's famous quote. He had said. "With or without religion, good people will behave well and bad people will do evil; but for good people to do evil—that takes religion"

Tolerance and freedom of expression are critical components of living and progressive societies which are increasing diminishing in the motherland - the behavior of students of the Punjab university is the reflection of that unfortunate trend

Jamat had the same aggression in universities in pre-mqm era.

Fanatical extremist mindset one day wil be sunk into oblivision.Journey of life always goes foreard.Ideas never die.

PU hostel culture since its run and control by one group known for this kind of behaviour.

As a student of PU (1963 -1965), I remember university was a place of learning and civility.Sadly it has become a sanctuary for the hooligans supported by different political parties. Notorious among them is IJT, the most intolerant and rowdy.

Fed Govt. as well as provincial Govt. are not interested in recovering the missing activists&bloggers.
