KARACHI: The administrative judge of antiterrorism courts remanded on Wednesday another Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London leader to prison in explosives and illicit weapons cases.

Police produced Ashraf Noor before the court and submitted that he was arrested on Jan 3 in the Nabi Bux locality for allegedly carrying two hand grenades and an unlicensed weapon.

The administrative judge sent him to prison on judicial remand and directed the investigating officer to submit investigation reports.

The police booked him in two cases registered under Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and Section 23(1)(a) of the Sindh Arms Act, 2013 read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

On Dec 21, the same court remanded two other leaders of MQM-London, Hassan Zafar Arif and Amjad Ullah Khan, to prison in a case pertaining to an alleged hate speech of the party founder.

Suspect remanded

The administrative judge remanded on Wednesday a suspect in police custody in attempted murder and illicit weapons cases.

Police submitted that Sohail Ahmed was arrested in a Landhi locality after a shoot-out and claimed that he was a unit in-charge of MQM and involved in targeted killings.

The court handed him over to the police on four-day physical remand for questioning.
