TOBA TEK SINGH: The last of the three main suspects in Mubarikabad Colony tragedy case, Adeel Mani Maseeh also died in the Faisalabad Allied Hospital on Friday.

His two accomplices, Iqbal Rakka Maseeh and Sajid Maseeh, had already expired in the hospital three days ago. They were booked in the FIR registered with the City Police for selling toxic liquor on the Christmas night.

Adeel was under treatment in the emergency ward and when his condition deteriorated on Thursday night he was shifted to the intensive care unit where he breathed his last on Friday evening.

There are currently 20 patients in the Allied Hospital and all of them had been shifted from the emergency ward to the medical ward; however, 10 of them are on dialysis. After the death of Adeel Mani Maseeh, death toll of this tragedy has reached 41.

Death toll now 41; survivors may lose eyesight

Hospital sources disclosed that there were strong chances that the survivors would lose their eyesight.

Meanwhile, one of the two Christian youths under treatment at Shorkot Rafiqui Airbase PAF Hospital, Khairou Maseeh, had been shifted to Multan Nishtar Hospital in critical condition. Khairou and his cousin, Amir Maseeh, had come to Toba to celebrate Christmas with their relatives where they consumed aftershave lotion diluted liquor and had returned back to their homes at Shorkot where they fell ill. They were admitted to the PAF hospital the next day.

Meanwhile, Awam League chief Riaz Fatyana has demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif spare some time to visit Mubarikabad Colony where dozens of Christians had died by consuming toxic liquor. Addressing a press conference at the District Press Club after visiting deceased Christians’ families along with a minority councilors, he said it was pity that even after five days of the tragedy, the CM had not announced compensation for the families of the victims.

He said the Punjab government should give at least Rs1 million to the family of each deceased. He said he had come to know during his visit to the houses of the deceased that liquor was recovered by Chuttiana police some two months back from someone during a raid, alleging that the same liquor was brought here by its sweeper, Sawan Maseeh, from the police station and then it was diluted with aftershave lotion. He further alleged that the district police officer (DPO) was trying to save the Chuttiana policemen. He also demanded formation of a judicial commission, headed by any senior judge of the Lahore High Court, to probe into the tragedy.
