Magic in a minute

This is regarding the regular “Magic in a minute” comic. I would like to suggest to the YW team to stop taking this comic and include more interesting reading stuff. The section has not been interesting so far and we want to have more content to read.

Making maths easy

This is regarding the cover article “Making maths easy” by Wajeeha Rehan (YW, October 22). It is well said in the beginning of the article that studying math is good for learning problem-solving skills.

However, maths is not the only subject needed for developing problem-solving skills.

Different subjects develop different problem solving skills. Better teaching methods and well-written books are needed to impart the proper understanding of all subjects, especially maths.

A bleak future

After completing matriculation I was overjoyed to take computer classes in my college. To my shock, there were only two computers in the lab. Despite that, I was hopeful for my future.

At that time, we were around 23 students in the class. After several weeks of being imparted little or no education, only seven students were as many turned to other options. Our so called instructor was himself learning C++ (computer language) from a student (having good knowledge of it) in the class.

We were left with no knowledge, no practicals and no theory! After the annual exams, I felt that I had not learnt a single thing even though we paid a handsome amount of fee. The pathetic situation of the college made me disinterested in computer studies.

I am one of the countless victims of the pathetic state of the education system of our country. We, (the youth) are destroyed by our unconcerned government. We pay the fee, we give the exams, but we don’t get basic education facilities.

One of my friends is now a salesman in a mobile phone shop and the other is at a bookshop while I am going to repeat two years in the same college. This was definitely not the future we wanted!

Jewels and pebbles

This is regarding the article “Jewels and pebbles” by Aisha Arif Esbhani (YW, October 22). I agree with the views of the writer.

We should always remember that all humans are equal.

I appreciate the writer for penning down her thoughts which are actually an eye-opener regarding what most of us are doing to the poor.
