QUETTA: Three suspected militants were killed in a gun battle with security personnel during a search operation in the mountainous area of Mushkaf in Bolan district on Saturday.

Personnel of the Frontier Corps and an intelligence age­ncy cordoned off the hilly area between Mushkaf and Aab-i-Gum on a tip-off to conduct the operation. “Heavy weapons, including rockets, were used in the gun battle,” said FC spokesman Khan Wasey. The exchange of fire that continued for a few hours left three militants dead, he added.

He claimed that the militants, linked to a banned outfit, were involved in the att­ack on a Rawalpindi-bound passenger train near the Aab-i-Gum railway station in October.
