ISLAMABAD: A major of the Pakistan Army was shot dead by gunmen who stormed his residence in Sector I-8/4 here on Thursday.

Maj Zeeshan Naseem’s wife answered the door and found a man standing outside. He pushed her aside and while she tried to intercept him, two more persons entered the house, police quoted the major’s wife as saying.

The major, who was in a nearby room, rushed to the gate after he heard the voice of his wife. One of the men pulled out a pistol and fired on him, the police said. He suffered a bullet injury in the chest and fell to the floor, bleeding.

He was taken to a hospital where he died. The cause of the killing was unknown.
