A district and sessions court in Lahore on Monday awarded a death sentence to a person after he was found guilty of murdering his daughter for not making ‘gol roti’, DawnNews reported.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Asghar Khan, after hearing arguments from both sides, remarked that such an individual cannot be pardoned who murdered his daughter in cold-blood over a minor dispute.
In addition to the death sentence, the court also ordered the convict to submit a fine of Rs0.5 million.
Last year in September, a person in Azeem Park area of Lahore had beaten his daughter to death reportedly for not making the chapattis properly.
The 12-year-old girl was found dead outside Mayo Hospital where she was dumped by her father who then filed a case of kidnapping and murder, police had said.
A senior police official, at the time of arrest, had said: “Khalid and his son kept shedding crocodile tears to hoodwink the police but the mother took off the lid on how brutally they beat the 12-year old to death.”

Murder must be considered as murder no matter who commits it and there must not be any way to pardon on the basis of mercy or on the basis of compensation if we want this cycle of killing to end.

What is it..is it really gol roti may be subconsciously something was boiling in his brain..we really need a psychological analysis why people commit such heinous crimes for trivial issues. For a father there is nothing more dearer than his daughter..just a smile from her can make all his frustrations go away in a jiffy .

Not only he killed his daughter for nothing, but also he tried to come out of it by making up a case of kidnapping. No remorse! Should be punished harshly to the full extent of law.

Boys from their childhood see and are taught that they are given higher rank than woman....women always need a male guardian....women should not make any decision of their life without a man's consent....men are suppose to teach and guide women how to behave (moral police over women)....and they are "incharge" over woman.
This is the root cause of misogynist mindset.

This is horrible that a father could be so brutal to his own child. Though I'm against capital punishment, yet I believe he is the one deserves it. I feel terrible sorry for that poor girl. May her soul rest in peace.

The people who suffer in a bad economy with inadequate facilities are poor and middle class/ Lower middle-class families. Sice eighties the country seems to be in turmoil, The politics is based on either ethnicity or it is sectarian based. The outcome is disastrous socio-economic conditions. This is not a "Gol Roti" issue. Gol roti is probably the last straw that broke the camel's back, Just think about the major portion of the country's population that lives on day to day basis and goes through monetary and social pressures on a daily basis, it is mind boggling. These issues can not be completely eliminated but can be reduced by good policies and governance, right now there is no focus on the poor segment of the society. The attitude of successive governments towards the weak is shameful.

Death sentence should NOT be awarded in cases like this. Put him away for 20 to 30 years. How is he going to pay Rs. 500K fine? He must be a poor man. Now the government will take away his home and the surviving members of the family will become homeless?
