KARACHI: A trustee of an Imambargah and a senior office-bearer of private schools association, Mansoor Zaidi, was shot dead while his son was critically injured in a suspected sectarian attack in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of the metropolis on Friday.

Zaidi and his son were attacked were attacked by armed men outside their home in Block-8 area of Gulistan-i-Johar, Karachi.

They sustained critical injuries and were shifted to a private hospital for treatment, Zaidi was pronounced dead on arrival.

The trustee's son was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for further medical treatment.

"Health condition of the patient is reported critical as he has sustained critical wounds on his chest," said Dr. Seemin Jamali, Head of the Emergency Department at JPMC.

"The father and son just arrived at home after attending a Majlis when they were targeted," said Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen spokesperson while speaking to Dawn.

The spokesperson added that Zaidi was also theowner of Mehran school in Shah Faisal Colony and was a secretary of private schools management association.
