NOWSHERA: Nowshera police foiled an arms smuggling bid to Punjab and recovered different kinds of arms and ammunition from a vehicle here on Friday.

Police sources said that DPO Nowshera had received secret information regarding arms smuggling to Punjab, on which he formed a committee headed by DSP Pabbi circle Khan Khel Khan, SHO Azakhel Aeen Khan and ASI Ayaz Khan. The police team stopped a suspected car and started search of its secret places, they said, adding that nine repeaters, three pistols, 20 magazines of Kalashnikovs and 12,700 cartridges of different bore were recovered from the vehicle.

Police also arrested accused Taj Ali Khan, a resident Akhoor Abad, Dara Adamkhel, and started further investigation.
