LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday unearthed a scam of having people employed in the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) through fake and forged appointment letters and bogus stamps.

According to officials, a team of FIA Corporate Crime circle headed by Deputy Director Jamil Ahmad Khan Mayo conducted a raid on Bedian Road and seized bogus appointment letters of the SNGPL, stamps of billing general manager, fake and forged cash receipts, affidavits and recruitment applications.

Initial interrogation revealed that a suspect, Muhammad Asif, in connivance with some SNGPL officials, prepared fake appointment letters that were also stamped. The suspected racketeers managed to get dozens of people employed in the SNGPL on the basis of these bogus documents and stamps after taking bribes.

“Asif has been arrested while efforts are being made to arrest other suspects,” the officials added.
