KARACHI: Test cricketer Younis Khan, who was hospitalized a day earlier after suffering from high-grade fever, has improved fast and may be discharged in a day or two, friends and doctors told Dawn on Wednesday.

The batsman suffering from fever was admitted to a private hospital where sources said he was put through various tests for dengue fever. Although doctors did not confirm that he was victim of the lethal mosquito-borne disease, sources said his platelets had dropped alarmingly when he was first examined on Tuesday. “However, the number of platelets has increased to satisfactory level and he is fast improving,” said a source in the hospital.

Salahuddin Ahmed Sallu, adviser to chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for South region, said he along with some other friends of Younis Khan visited the latter at a private ward of the hospital where he presented a bouquet to him on behalf of PCB chairman Shahryar Khan and PCB Executive Council chairman Najam Sethi.
