Music just for cats!

If you’ve got a musical moggy, this pet project could be right up your street — a CD of songs specifically for cats.

The album, ‘Music For Cats’, is the first of its kind to be released by a major record label. It was put together by musician David Teie, who says he applied ‘real, scientifically credible’ research into his compositions.

And according to publisher Universal Music, it will cater to ‘a largely untapped animal music market’.

Teie, a cellist, said he started work on the record after realising that animals could benefit from music just as much as humans.

The album, comprises five tracks, includes sounds similar to purring, the cello and other ‘feline-centric sounds’ to match cats’ hearing frequency range.

Teie said the album will be released next month and now wants to produce music for dogs and create headphones for horses.

New York City’s largest cat

Four-foot Samson, the Maine Coon has gained internet notoriety for his four-foot, 28-pound frame after repeated efforts by his owner Jonathan Zurbel to have him declared the largest cat in New York City.

“Finally, my cat went viral! It took a lot of work because the pet scene on IG is very competitive, everyone thinks they have the cutest pet,” Zurbel wrote on Instagram.

Samson’s impressive stature is also on display on his very own Instagram account, which chronicles his daily life. Zurbel told the Gothamist Samson eats six can of wet food every day in addition to a helping of dry food and has gained 10 pounds in the two-and-a-half years they’ve been together.

Chicken-scented ‘Extra Crispy’ sunscreen

The Fried chicken chain KFC is venturing into non-edible goods with its latest product — ‘Extra Crispy’ sunscreen designed to smell like chicken.

The chain tweeted an announcement offering the KFC Col Sanders’ Extra Crispy SPF 30 sunscreen for free on a special website, and the run of 3,000 was advertised as available until September 30 or “while supplies last” — which turned out to be a pretty short amount of time. The sunscreen was billed as ‘a real product,’ but ‘not a food product.’

“Even though this product smells delicious, it is not delicious. The only skin that should be extra crispy this summer is on your fried chicken,” the website states.

“Suntan lotion always smells like lotion,” KFC chief marketing officer Kevin Hochman told, “So we thought — why not make it smell like fried chicken?”

The sunscreen comes after the company released a line of edible nail polish in South Korea designed to taste like the company’s fried chicken.

Massive pearl turns out to be worth £76million

This giant pearl could be the biggest ever found in the world and five times larger than the previous record — and it has just been handed in by a fisherman who kept it under his bed.

The man, who has not been identified, found the 77lbs gem ten years ago in sea off the coast of Palawan Island, Philippines. He didn’t know the potential eye-watering value of £76million and kept it as a ‘good luck charm’ in his rundown wooden home. But a fire at the property earlier this year forced him to have a clear out and move house.

The fisherman handed it in to the stunned local tourism officer in remote Puerto Princesca who verified that it had been found in a giant clam.

The pearl measures 1ft wide and 2.2ft long — dwarfing the current world’s biggest pearl Pearl of Lao Tze, which weighs just over 14lbs and is worth £26.6million; it was also found off Palawan, Philippines, in 1934.
