LAHORE: The School Education Department plans to establish early childhood education (ECE) classrooms in at least 1,000 schools in the province by next year under an approved PC-1.

“After completion of the phase-1, the government further plans to expand it up to 10,000 schools,” department’s special secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch said while speaking at one-day training workshop on the ECE organized by the directorate of staff development (DSD) here on Friday.

Mr Baloch said the next two years were important in view of introduction of various reforms in the education sector in Punjab.

“The people will witness several revolutionary reforms in the education sector as various projects/initiatives are set to be launched,” he added.

DSD’s programme director Saeed Ramzan said: “It is now an admitted fact that the ECE concept is essential for the better grooming of kids.” She said the DSD had recently completed the job of establishing ECE classrooms in over 1,000 primary schools which would become operative gradually.

FAPUASA: Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) president Dr Humayun Khan and secretary Dr Mahboob Hussain have called upon the Sindh government to resolve serious academic and administrative issues being faced by universities and teachers in Sindh on a priority basis.

In a press statement issued here on Friday, they said the development of the country was linked with education and the Sindh government must resolve all administrative and financial problems of universities and teachers to avoid any crisis.
