LAHORE: A Punjab government official has approached the Federal Investigation Agency for lodging a case against a district coordination officer under the recently enacted Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act.

It is said to be the first complaint filed against an official since the enforcement of the cyber crime law in the country.

Awaiting posting, complainant Hafiz Aneesur Rehman has submitted different positions to the National Accountability Bureau, Anti-Corruption Establishment and police force.

In his application to the FIA, he alleged that Bhakar DCO Ahmad Mustjab had committed a cyber crime by downloading his personal material, including photographs, from internet and used them against him.

Meanwhile, the FIA authorities are not sure how to proceed in the case since the government has not given them go ahead to entertain complaints under the cyber crime law.
