Ban imposed on rallies in red zone

KARACHI: The Sindh home department has imposed a ban on protests, demonstrations, rallies and assembly of more than five people at specific places in Karachi division declared as Red Zone for a period of 60 days with immediate effect.

The ban is imposed under Section 144 (power to issue order absolute at once in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger) of the criminal procedure code at the places outside important government buildings, including Sindh Governor House, Chief Minister Secretariat, Sindh Assembly building, Sindh Secretariat, and Bilawal House, said a statement issued here on Wednesday.

In district East the areas included Hoshang Chowk to Fawwara Chowk, Deen Mohammed Wafai Road-Sidco Centre-Sabir Baig Shaheed Road corner Coast Guard Mess-Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah Road-PSO petrol pump fall under the ban.

In district North the ban is imposed from PSO Petrol Pump-Sharah-i-Liaquat to Fresco Chowk.

In district West from Fresco Chowk- Mohammed Bin Qasim Road - DJ Chowrangi - Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road Shaheen to Complex-Khajoor Chowk - PIDC Chowk -16-D Bungalow.

In district South from 16-D Bugalow to Hoshang Chowk via Clear Mound Road - Bilawal House and Ali Baba Chowrangi to Beach View Park.

In district East, from Beach View roundabout block 4 to corner Bagh-i-Rustum via ATC Court Road.

In district North, from corner Bagh-i-Rustum to Bilawal Chowrangi via Shah Ghazi Road.

In district West from Bilawal Chowrangi to Ali Baba Chowrangi via Khayaban-i-Saadi.
