QUETTA: Cases have been registered against self-exiled Baloch leaders Brahamdagh Bugti, president of the Baloch Republican Party (BRP), Hyrbyair Marri and Bibi Karima of the banned BSO-Azad on Monday at five police stations in Khuzdar.

The FIRs against the three were registered for allegedly supporting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks about Balochistan.

The FIRs were registered on complaints submitted by Muhammad Hussain, Munir Ahmed, Maulana Muhammad Aslam, Ghulam Yaseen Jattak and Muhammad Rahim.

The sections under which the cases were registered are 120, 121, 123 and 353 of the Pakistan Penal Code. These sections refer to “concealing design to commit offence punishable with imprisonment”, “waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against Pakistan,” “concealing with intent to facilitate design to wage war,’ and “assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty”.

Confirming the registration of cases, District Police Officer of Khuzdar Muhammad Ashraf Jattak said the applicants claimed that these leaders had ‘supported’ Mr Modi’s Aug 15 speech regarding Balochistan.

“These Baloch activists invited the Indian prime minister to intervene in Balochistan,” said Munir Ahmed in his written application.
