PESHAWAR: Two men belonging to the Kalash community were killed in a cross-border militant attack from Afghanistan on Friday.

“Around 30 militants with heavy weapons made an attempt to enter Pakistan near Bumburet Valley of Kalashan,” Chitral District Police Officer Asif Iqbal said.

The attack created panic among the locals. They rushed to the area of attack which provided the terrorists with an opportunity to flee with more than 300 goats.

In April this year, security forces repulsed a cross-border attack on a checkpost in Kurram tribal region that killed at least 16 Afghanistan-based militants

During a subsequent search operation, security forces claimed to have recovered bodies of 12 attackers from the area.
