LAHORE: National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) Inspector General (IG) Shaukat Hayat called for quick and timely response to motorists approaching the force on its helpline 130.

He was addressing police officers in Police Darbar held on Monday at Lahore Zonal Office. Deputy Inspector General Mirza Faran Baig and Senior Superintendent of Police Masroor Alam Kolachi were also present.

The IG directed the force to focus on discipline as it played a crucial role in success and helped polish professionalism in any organisation. The well-mannered conduct with commuters, courtesy and indiscriminate enforcement of law must be ensured to enhance the image of the motorway police.

He also stressed quick and timely response to helpline 130. It is the prime responsibility of NH&MP to provide safe and secure travel to road users, he added. He said he would personally visit motorways and highways to ensure implementation of law to provide safe and secure roads to people.

IG Hayat announced that special educational and welfare packages would be announced for disabled children of employees and the slain personnel. He distributed certificates amongst the officers who showed extraordinary performance and also listened to the problems of officers and issued necessary instructions to redress their grievances.
