ONE expects the worst sort of excesses from the BJP government in Delhi to crush the Kashmiris’ freedom movement in the Indian occupied valley. It prefers the use of brutal force and massacres unarmed civilians to quell public protests.

How come Facebook has become a party to the conflict standing with the Indian oppressors!

A number of Kashmiri, Indian and non-Indian accounts discussing unrest in Kashmir and posting pictures or videos of public protests and atrocities meted out by paramilitary forces were suspended, and profiles blocked on Facebook. This is so because Indians working in ‘Contact Facebook’ in India and the US are furthering the Indian government’s goals, and not that of their employer. All these Indians hid behind the much acclaimed Facebook ‘Community Standards.’

Facebook is an international organisation, serving billions of people. It should not take sides because of its employees’ pressure. Facebook top brass should know what is going on under its nose.
