MANSEHRA: Federal Minister for Hajj and Interfaith Harmony Sardar Mohammad Yousuf has said the government will include Quranic content in the national and provincial education curriculum to guide students in achieving successes in the fields of science and technology.

“We are finalising a draft legislation with the input of the provinces to make Quranic education part of the curricula as we cannot attain supremacy in the fields of science and technology without understanding Quran,” he told participants of an educational conference organised by Safa Academy, an orphanage, here on Saturday.

Mr Yousuf said his ministry had constituted an ulema and mashaik council on the directive of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to guide the government on conducting day-to-day affairs under Islamic injunctions.

The federal minister said keeping in view the importance of science and technology education for country’s prosperity and development, the federal government had brought major changes to the education policy to attain achievements in both the fields.

Mr Yousuf also appealed to the participants to pray for good health of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who will undergo an open heart surgery in London.

He said the country needed able scientists and technologists to help complete the mega projects being executed under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project.

On the occasion, Sardar Said Ghulam, the Mansehra District Nazim, said it was first time in history of the district that the teachers who absented duty were terminated.

“I am thankful to all political parties, including PTI, PML-N, JUI-F, QWP and JI, for extending their full support to me in taking strict actions against teachers in enforcing educational vision in the district,” he said, adding public schools were imparting quality education to students which was once a dream for them.
