SAHIWAL: A beautician and part-time stage actress came under acid attack at Arifwala Pull on Wednesday.

The DSP city told this correspondent that Anam Khan’s cousin Fahad Lodhi wanted to marry her and he would ask her to give up her stage acting profession. She had also turned down Fahad’s proposal upon which he nurtured a grudge.

It is learnt that Anam’s husband left her two years ago and she was earning to maintain her family. Fahad would insist that she get divorce from her husband and tie the knot with him but she refused.

Anam told reporters at the DHQ hospital that Fahad Lodhi would ask her to leave stage acting -- a profession that helped her feed her children. She said Fahad, along with his friend, threw acid on her.

Doctors said Anam suffered 50pc burns and would be shifted to Lahore for better treatment.

Police registered a case against the suspect and arrested some members of his family.
