CORRUPTION is the mother of all evils. It undermines development and rule of law, delays development projects and causes huge losses to the national exchequer.

In 2014, Pakistan scored 126 out of 174 on the corruption perception index published by the transparency international. The government should implement checks and balances in the customs to block all the chances of corruption. Establishing complaints bureau will promote the tradition of having a strong eye on the affairs of the customs.

Workshops and campaigns against corruption can be a strong point to tackle the corruption. The awareness of citizen makes a great difference in the development of a country. Through media broadcastings, people can access the information in ministries, and parliament can increase the number of weekly sessions to explain the use of all assets. Government officials should explain their wealth in relation to their income.

All Pakistanis should stand against corruption and play their role individually to eliminate corruption in the country because Pakistan cannot grow as long as corruption is not just eliminated.
