RAWALPINDI: A villager, who was shot and injured allegedly by the son of a property tycoon on March 27 over a property dispute in Rawat, died at the District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday.

According to police and the family of Ghulam Abbas, the injured was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital.

When contacted, SP Ghayas Gul told Dawn that the police had been searching for the accused nominated in the case, including the son of a property tycoon.

The SP said the police were investigating the incident and would arrest whoever was found guilty of the murder.

He also said the travel record of the property tycoon’s son had been provided to the police which showed that he was out of the country when the incident took place.

Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Dhoke Sahang Rawat and brother of the deceased, in an FIR lodged with the police stated that he along with Ghulam Abbas was present at his shop when the accused along with 100 to 150 armed people reached there.

He said the accused threatened them to leave, claiming the area was located in the limits of their housing society.

He stated that he and his brother requested the accused that they were poor people and had been living in the area for over 100 years, but to no avail.

The accused opened a straight fire on Ghulam Abbas and injured him, he added.
